Puffy Paint

Thursday, January 20, 2011

picklewart.blogspot.com

My friend Marlana over at A Peek Into Our Nest mentioned making puffy paint the other day. It sounded fun AND easy, so we decided to give it a try... and I'm glad we did. The kids loved it!

All you need is some plain white school glue and some plain white shaving cream. Mix equal parts of each.

You'll have a thick gloopy (is that a word?) goo to use. Go start creating!

Winter Wonderland

Sunday, January 31, 2010

Our 6 inches of snow out here sure did a number on the place... it's beautiful. The chickens pretty much held up in their house, but Courtney did go out and try to make some paths for them thru the white stuff... and Grace went to help, of course. There was a bit of sledding as well too.

Back inside where it was toasty warm, we had a rodeo with cowboy Garrett. Yeehaw! Ain't he a cute li'l feller?

And then there's Grace. She's also somethin' ain't she?

Stuck Stuck Stuck in the Snow!

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Well, just like I expected, we got stuck after church trying to climb back up our driveway in my little car. We made it part of the way, but just couldn't climb to the top of that daunting straight uphill driveway we have. We tried. We really did. We spent about 15 minutes trying with all our might! BUT, with the spirit of an Indy 500 pit crew, Courtney jumped out to meet the challenge. Any excuse to get the Jeep... especially when it involves showing up my poor little car. Well, it would be nice to have my own 4x4... :-)

Grace's Snowflakes

Thursday, December 24, 2009

Today's preschool time turned into a weather forecast! Grace made some beautiful snowflakes. But I warn you other Mm's of preschoolers... this was a little tough for my 3 yr old. By the time we'd folded the paper several times, it was getting a bit thick and hard to cut. She did some cutting but it turned into her "designing" the snowflakes and telling me where to make the cuts!

Wintertime Swimming Fun!

Monday, March 2, 2009

That's right... we went swimming in February! No, this was no crazy polar bear swimming club. We headed south (relatively speaking) to Branson, MO... Splash Country Indoors. What a fun place to go in the dead of winter... we even had snow on the ground while we were there! We stayed at the Grand Country Inn right there by the park. Your family gets into the water park free when you stay in the hotel! Or, you can buy a day pass... I believe they were $15 a person.
We went to the park Friday evening and played hard... hard enough that we wore out that little girl! Then, we woke up to snow Sat. morning, had a nice breakfast, and hit the park AGAIN! Grace couldn't get enough of the slides. What big fun. I guess we'll have to plan on going back again sometime.

Back in the Groove

Friday, January 30, 2009

I've been behind on posting to the blog lately. It seems like one illness after another has taken over our household over the past few weeks. BUT, I'm back! So, needless to say, I've got to play catchup!

Grace decided that we needed to pull out one of the boxes in her closet a few weeks ago... and much to her surprise (and elation) the contents of the box were dress up clothes! So, being the eclectic personality that she is, she began donning all kinds of garb. And this is what she came up with!

A few days later, were were having nap time except my little one wasn't doing much napping. Instead, she was exploring her book shelf. Now, don't get me wrong, normally I would encourage such behavior, but in this case, her exploration turned more into a tour of demolition! I do believe she had EVERY book off the shelves. Needless to say, we had "a talk" about how we treat our books.

Grace also had her first piggy-back ride. It might seem odd that she's having her first piggy back ride at almost 2 1/2 but it's true. She's had many shoulder rides - just no piggy back rides.

Grace also got a new toy... all because of the Walmart clearance aisle. I'm a bargain addict, so I can never pass up taking a stroll down the clearance aisles at the stores. Well, I found a bath toy at Walmart for $15 that has brought more joy to this little girl than any other bath toy she owns! If you ever see the Mommy and Me Waterslide toy in the clearance aisle at Walmart, I HIGHLY recommend buying it!

And our last update is our little round of ice/sleet/and snow that we had down here. It was fun though. We did finally get to trek out and enjoy some snow time in spite of all the illnesses. We live next to a cemetary on a hill (the neighbors are quiet...), and had some fun over there. Hope you all had a chance to enjoy the snow too. We don't get it a lot here in southern Missouri!
