Boobie Bottle Trial Continues - Successful Night!

OK, all you guys following out there on the blog & on FB on how the "Boobie Bottle" trials are going... well, nights 1 & 2 were pretty dismal. We did our usual bedtime of about 9 PM with Courtney trying to feed the wee one with the new Adiri Stage 3 bottle (see previous blog posts). The boy cried (no, make that screamed) for around 10 to 15 minutes before his tiny little body gave in and crashed. He slept. He actually slept quite well. But this was not the way I wanted to do our nighttime routine... not even close.
So, I've been reading The No Cry Sleep Solution to gain additional insight into our dilemma(s)... Garrett taking a bottle & going to sleep without misery and wailing. Something I discovered is that we were putting Garrett down too late in the evening. He had cruised right on through the sleepy phase and into the 2nd wind phase when we were trying to give him his bedtime bottle. Boy had that been complicating things!
So, we moved the bedtime up... from 9 PM to around 8 PM last night. It worked. He took a bottle from Courtney with very little fussing.
He went down without misery.
He even slept from around 8:30 PM to 6 AM.
Folks, that's a real accomplishment!
So, I encourage any of you that are experiencing nighttime routine difficulties to step back and evaluate when you're putting your kids to bed! It made all the difference for us!!

Yeah, I remember the nightly screaming fits before bed. We mentioned it to our Doctor and she said that Lily was just burning off excess energy so that she could sleep. Makes sense if she was in the "2nd Wind" phase. We'll have to remember that with Baby #2!

And I'm glad the Boobie Bottle finally worked for you. I know for us, Lily took to the bottle quite well. It helped that Mommy always gave it to her at first just to get her used to the bottle. Then it was a fairly easy transition to me bottle feeding her.

But I already have the sinking sensation that #2 is going to be a little hellion!
